Best Way To Stain Maple Wood

best way to stain maple wood

Hi, i’ve stripped a solid maple desk and am researching the best way to finish it. the wood is very uneven in color, and i want it to look like natural wood, but with an even color. should i seal with that cn sealcoat product, or the bulls eye sealcoat shellac diluted by 50% with denatured alcohol?. Finishing maple can help emphasize the natural wood grain and boost the color of the wood. if you want to make a piece of maple stand out, you can use either oil or wood stain to finish the wood. no matter what you use on your wood, be sure to sand it first and seal it afterward to protect it from any damage.. Less expensive than hard maple, birch is often substituted for maple in furniture and kitchen cabinets. but, like hard maple, birch wood does not absorb stain evenly and should not be stained with dark colored stains. when staining, first apply a pre-stain wood conditioner, then select stains lighter in color..

1. use dewaxed shellac for your best “clear” finish on curly maple: before – curly maple board sanded to 220 grit, just before being finished with dewaxed shellac: after – with 3 coats of dewaxed shellac: of all the basic clear topcoats you can choose from, dewaxed shellac provides a surprising chatoyance that you just don’t get with other finishes.. Re: best way to finish maple it would be interesting to see some photos of experiments if anyone in this thread does any. maybe it is just me but i seem to see a lot of the commercial prefinished doors and such where the color is just too consistent, i mean wood naturally has some light and some dark places, but they seem to aim at averaging.
